Odisha Plus II Exam 2020 cancelled

Bhubaneswar: The remaining of papers of annual Plus II Examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) were cancelled due to fast spread of COVID-19 in Odisha.

As per decision by the CHSE authorities, the evaluation of answer sheets will be conducted on basis of guidelines set by CBSE.

“For the students, who have completed all the examinations, their results will be declared based on their performance in the examinations. The students, who have appeared in the examination in more than 3 papers, the average of marks in theory obtained in best 3 performing papers will be awarded in the remaining papers whose examination have not been concluded. For the students, who have appeared in the examination in only 3 papers, the average of marks in theory obtained in best 2 theory papers will be awarded in the papers, whose examination have not been concluded,” said School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash today. .

“We are planning to declare the results by end of July. The examinees, who will not be happy with their marks, the examination will be re-conducted after the COVID crisis improves in the State,” he said.

Besides, for the students appeared in all the papers in compartmental examination, the marks will be declared on the basis of their performance. The candidates, who have partly appeared in the required papers, the average of marks obtained in any theory paper appeared in AHSE-2020, will be awarded in the papers whose examinations have not be concluded.

Similarly, the compartmental students, whose examinations of any paper has not been conducted in AHSE-2020, they will be awarded the average of the best 3 (if the candidate has secured pass marks in more than 3 papers in last qualifying examination), best 2 (if the candidate has secured pass marks in 3 papers in the last qualifying examination), average of 2 papers (if the candidate has secured pass marks in at 2 papers in last qualifying examination) of the theory marks obtained by the candidate in the last qualifying examinations.

However, CHSE Odisha will conduct an optional examination in the subjects, whose examinations were scheduled to be conducted from March 23 to 28 as soon as conditions are conducive, as assessed and decided by the State Government.

The candidates, whose results will be declared based on the above assessment scheme, will be allowed to appear in these optional examinations to improve their performance if they wish so. However, the results declared by CHSE will be considered as final unless the candidate opts for optional examination.

The move came after Centre announced Unlock-2 by imposing restrictions on reopening of educational institutions across the country in view of growing number of COVID-19 cases.

Earlier, CHSE Odisha had postponed +2 examinations 2020 in the streams of Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational course with effect from March 23 till further order due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Clearing the doubts of parents and examinees, the Minister had informed that the Plus II Exam in all the streams will be conducted after lockdown period gets over.

However, the CHSE authorities decided to suspend the examination of remaining papers to contain possible spread of coronavirus in the State.
