Odisha: Plus III students stage stir before Utkal University VC office

Bhubaneswar: Demanding postponement of semester exams, Plus III students of different colleges affiliated to Utkal University today gheraoed the Vice Chancellor’s office here.

They were opposing the varsity’s decision to conduct exams of three semesters in one year. After Cyclone Fani battered the State in May, the university had deferred semester exams for two months.

At around 12 noon, the students gheraoed the administrative block. But when no one from the varsity turned up to hold discussion with the agitating students, they gheraoed the VC office.

Later the university’s Registrar and Controller of Exams assured the protestors to look into the demands. “They have told us to conduct the semester exams after January 15,” said an agitating student.
