Odisha: Poacher critical after gun goes off accidentally in Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar: A poacher has been hospitalised with bullet injuries after his gun went off accidentally in Odisha’s Nayagarh district in the wee hours of today.

The injured has been identified as Sanyasi Jani. The incident took place in a forest near Nayagarh-Boudh border, sources said.

Jani reportedly fell down after he slipped his feet inside the forest. Soon Jani’s gun went off and the bullet pierced his buttock.

On being informed, villagers rescued Jani and rushed him to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Dasapalla in a critical condition. He was later shifted to a hospital at Nayagarh after his condition deteriorated, sources added.
