Odisha police arrest four Sum Hospital staff for fire tragedy

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18:

Acting tough the Odisha police this evening arrested four officials of Sum Hospital where a major fire broke out yesterday killing 20 persons and injuring several others.

Those arrested are Medical Superintendent Puspa Raj Samantasinghar, Amulya Sahu Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Fire Safety Officer Santosh Das and Junior Engineer (Electrical Maintenance) Malaya Kumar Sahu. All are employees of Sum Hospital, informed Y B Khurania Police Commissioner Twin City Commissionerate of Police at a press briefing here.

They have been charged under sections 304, 308, 285 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The arrests were made on the basis of the FIR lodged by the Directorate of Fire Services today.

The FIR was lodged at the Khandagiri police station by B B Das Fire Officer (Central Range).
