Odisha: Police arrest reel-life villain on charge of making obscene video calls to actresses

Cuttack: Commissionerate Police-Cuttack today arrested a man for allegedly making obscene video calls to some female actors in the Odia film and television industry. The accused identified as Mithun Bhoi used to play negative characters as a supporting actor in the industry.

According to the source, accused Mithun had opened a fake WhatsApp profile in the name of an Odia film producer. He used to target some newcomer female actors and, in turn, chat with them. At times, he makes obscene video calls to the actresses from his fabricated social media account.

Mithun was indulging in illegal activity in a bid to defame the female actors. Acting on a complaint lodged in this regard and following a preliminary investigation, a team of cyber police arrested the wrongdoer and seized at least two mobile phones and some SIM cards from his possession.

“We received an FIR from Odia film producer Sudhansu Mohan Sahu. Swinging into action, we conducted a detailed probe and ascertained during the investigation that Mithun had opened a fake account in the complainant’s name. He has been making obscene video calls to some film and television actresses. The accused will be forwarded to court,” Cuttack Additional DCP Anil Mishra expressed.

“As the probe is underway, more details cannot be divulged at this moment,” the DCP added.
