Odisha Police arrest six of a family over mysterious death of teenage girl

Puri: The police arrested six family members of a girl for their alleged involvement in her murder in Chandanpur area of Puri district today.

Puri Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kishore Kumar Munda stated family members of the girl from Naikulasahi village claimed she died by suicide two days back. Without informing the police about the matter, the deceased’s family members said they cremated her body at the village crematorium.

Following this, the police registered a case against the girl’s family members for cremating her body without informing the cops about the death.

During the course of investigation, the police came to know the girl’s skeletal remains were buried in the crematorium. Today, her bones and skeletal remains were exhumed and sent to laboratory for forensic tests, said the SDPO.

The girl’s brother, three paternal uncles and two cousins were arrested today, the police official said.
