Nabarangpur: A team of Nabarangpur police arrested a woman Maoist cadre in Chhattisgarh. The cadre identified as Mango Nureti alias Sindhu of Sitanadi Area Committee LOS was injured following a gunfight yesterday morning and was later arrested from the neighbouring state, an official said today.
A specific intelligence input was received regarding the presence of a CPI (Maoist) cadre near Ekawari village under Khallari police limits in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh. A special anti-naxal search i.e. Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was carried out to prevent an influx of naxals inside Nabarangpur by utilising the district’s officers of DIOC, two teams of DVF, and a team of SOG at No-21 of Nabarangpur district police. A team of 12BN CRPF Kundei COB, Odisha was used as backup for the operation.
During the search operation, the police team found the injured woman Maoist cadre (25) in a house of Ekawari village. After an inquiry, it was ascertained that she was previously involved in the exchange of fire between Chhattisgarh Police and Maoists on April 12 at a location in between Karipani and Ekawari village.
The woman Maoist had been working with Sitanadi Area Committee since 2021 led by Deepak Mandavi alias Arun. After the arrest, Nabarangpur police contacted Dhamtari district police of Chhattisgarh and handed her over to them for further inquiry and appropriate legal action against her.
Further investigation is being carried out to ascertain her involvement in anti-national activities, if any, conducted over a long time in Odisha as well as Chhattisgarh states, the senior police official from Nabarangpur stated.
