Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch of the Odisha Police has issued advisory for parents over a new WhatsApp spam namely ‘Olivia Hoax’, which targets young children by befriending them and later sends links to porn sites.
The agency has advised parents to keenly watch their children’s online activity. It has also cautioned not to accept any message from unknown or suspicious numbers on the instant messaging platform.

Children are being targeted by the spam which tricks them into viewing explicit images. They are contacted via the messenger app by an unknown number posing as a friend namely ‘Olivia’. When the recipient demands proof of identity, the sender sends a link to pornographic images and porn sites.
