Odisha police issues safety guidelines for Diwali

Cuttack:  In a bid to prevent mishaps and ensure a safe Diwali during the festival on October 19, Odisha Police today issued some guidelines asking all District police chiefs to make adequate arrangements for the festival of lights.

Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma asked all the SPs to make adequate arrangement to ensure a hassle-free celebration of Diwali and Kali Puja in the state.

In a letter to all the SPs, Sharma asked to ensure fire safety measures and emergency arrangements in the health centres in their respective jurisdiction area.

The letter also stated to follow a series of do’s and don’ts to ensure mishap-free celebrations during lighting of lamps and bursting of crackers.

Crackers and fireworks must be sold at licensed shop. It was strictly asked not to use crackers that produce sound above 65 decibel. It also urged people to avoid fireworks near schools, hospitals, residential areas or in crowded place.
