Odisha police nabs prime accused in Dipu, Om murders

Odisha police today nabbed the prime accused in the Deepak Mallick alias Dipu and Om Prakash Swain alias Om murders from here, a key associate of Dhalsamanta brothers.

Chauliaganj police arrested Pinta alias Suvendu Das from the city who allegedly played a pivotal role in the murders of Dipu and Om.

Briefing newsmen here, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora said that wanted criminal Pinta has been arrested for his alleged role in the murders of Dipu and Om.

The arrest is seen as a prize catch for the Twin City Commissionerate police as it caught hold of Das who was absconding since long.

During interrogation of the notorious siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalsamanta, police had decoded the twin murder mystery of the former sharpshooters of the DS brothers.

Following this, police intensified their operation to arrest those having links with the gangster duo.

Several cases are pending against Pinta in Mangalabag and Bidanasi police stations here. Das was booked on charges of extortion, bombing and firing.

Thought there was no murder case registered against him, police have registered such case against him for his alleged role in eliminating Dipu and Om.

Notably, the associates of DS brothers had taken the two to a farmhouse in Athagarh area where they were beaten to death. Later, their bodies were burnt and disposed of in West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.
