Odisha Police nabs woman drug peddler in capital city

Bhubaneswar: Few days after the arrest of drugs smuggler Sk Raja, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch today nabbed a woman from Haladipadia slum in Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar for her alleged involvement in peddling of contraband items.

The arrested woman, Hainara Khatun is a resident of Purba Medinipur of West Bengal. However, she has been staying in Haladipadia and carrying out the illegal drug trade for past few years.

Khatun was in the ‘wanted list’ of the STF in other cases as well.

Meanwhile, police today searched the house of Sk Raja in Aradabazaar area of Balasore and seized CCTV footage and many incriminating documents.

Presently Raja is the remand of STF following his arrest on Sunday. Apart from his involvement in illegal drug trade in Odisha, Rajasthan and Goa, Raja was allegedly involved in peddling in Nepal and Bangladesh.

The STF arrested Raja from Padmapur under Khandagiri police limits and seized Rs 1 lakh cash, one pistol loaded with live ammunitions, six mobile phones ATM cards and other incriminating materials from his possession.
