Odisha police raid Dhalasamanta duo’s Vizag den, stumble on vital leads

Odisha police during about a three-hour long search at the Visakhapatnam residence of the arrested Dhalasamanta brothers today seized a firearm, 35 bullets, a pack of CDs and some vital documents, said police sources.

The police have found the driving license and photograph of missing Dipu Mallick from the Visakhapatnam residence of the arrested Dhalasamanta brothers during search operations, sources revealed.

The Odisha police conducted the search at the Dhalasamanta brothers after breaking open the door in presence of local police and two witnesses following obtaining of orders from the local court.

It may be mentioned here that Dipu, who was working for the Dhalasamanta brothers had suddenly gone missing and his father Adwaita Mallick had filed an FIR with the Chauliagunj police and had recorded his statement in the court. Adwaita in his statement before the court  had stated that the Dhalasamanta brohers were behind the mysterious disappearance of Dipu and his associate Om.

Notably, on January 28 the Twin City Commissionerate Police had arrested the notorious Dhalasamanta brothers from a rented house in Pokhariput area in the Odisha capital.

Following the duo’s arrest, police conducted raids at various locations including their residence at CDA Sector 6 where police seized huge dump of arms and ammunition, cash, laptop, mobile phones, diaries and other documents.

Police had seized one .9mm carbine gun, one double-barrel gun and four .9mm mousers and 150 rounds of ammunition and cash of over Rs 2.67 crore from the searches conducted in their houses at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
