Bhubaneswar, Oct 21:

The Twin City Commissionerate police today took SUM Hospital owner Manoj Nayak on a two-day remand for questioning in connection with the fire mishap at the hospital which claimed more than 20 lives.

Nayak, who was arrested yesterday by Khandagiri police after he surrendered before it, was produced before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court here last evening.

Besides rejecting the bail plea of Nayak, the court granted Twin City Commissionerate police to take Nayak on a two-day remand. The police had, however, moved the court to take Nayak on a three-day remand.

The court directed the police to produce Nayak before it on October 23 after the end of his two-day remand period. He was sent to Jharpada Jail on judicial custody yesterday after rejection of his bail plea.
