Angul, Feb 15:
Police took the prime accused, Jhasaketan Rout alias Jharu, on a three-day remand today to interrogate him for his alleged involvement in the murder of Kumuda Chandra Sahu (30) and Abala Gadanayak (65) of Nuamouza village under Chendipada police limits who had gone missing in Odisha’s Angul district.
The accused, who was arrested in the double murder of two brothers at Kushakila village under Jarapada police limits, had confessed to killing Kumuda Chandra Sahu and Kumuda's maternal aunt Abala Gadanayak during interrogation.
Although Rout had claimed to have murdered the siblings-- Jogeswar and Hiranakshya-- alone, the police did not buy his statement as they suspect involvement of more than one person in the crime.
To dig further into the case, we are taking the accused on a three-day remand to find out the involvement of others in the crime, said Satyabrata Rout, IIC Jarapada police station.
It may be recalled that the bodies of the missing siblings were dug out 15-16 feet from under the earth based on the information provided by Jhasketan on February 11.
Police recovered the bodies buried behind a school.
