Odisha: Poll flying squad seizes cash worth Rs 7.41 lakh from petrol pump

Cuttack: Unaccounted for cash was seized in yet another petrol pump raid by the poll flying squad here today, ahead of fourth phase of elections in Odisha.

According to reports, cash amounting to Rs. 7.41 lakh was confiscated from a petrol pump in Kahirapola area of Jagatpur.

Acting on a tip-off the EC flying squad conducted a search of the petrol pump office and premises, reportedly owned by a family member of BJP Salipur MLA candidate Prakash Behera.

While petrol pump employees said that the cash was earned by sale of fuel, Cuttack DCP Akhilesh Singh informed that it was unlikely that this amount of cash recovered could be the result of a day’s worth of transaction.

The police has launched a probe into the matter.
