Odisha poll flying squad seizes Rs 8 lakh cash in Astarang

Puri: The poll flying squad seized Rs 8 lakh cash from an SUV during checking on Astarang-Kakatpur road last night.

A youth was detained in this connection. Later, he was freed following interrogation.

According to reports, the vehicle was travelling from Konark to Astarang on Saturday night. The officials of the election flying squad seized the cash from the SUV during inspection.

The probe is underway to unearth the source of money.

As Kakatpur is going to polls on April 29, it is suspected that the cash was meant for ‘disbursement’ to woo voters ahead of the elections.
