Odisha polls: Schedule for Patkura elections declared

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission has announced fresh schedule for Patkura assembly constituency poll in Odisha.

As per an official notification, the polling will be held on May 19, the date for seventh and final phase of elections in the country.

While the last date for filing nomination is May 1, the final date for withdrawing candidature is May 4. The results will be declared on May 23.

Only the candidate nominated by the BJD is allowed to file nomination papers as the candidatures of other candidates including BJP nominee Bijoy Mohapatra and Congress candidate Jayanta Kumar Mohanty are valid.

The polling process will take between between 7 AM and 6 PM on May 19.

Notably, election to the Patkura assembly constituency in Kendrapara district was countermanded following the death of incumbent legislator and BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwal.
