Odisha: Pregnant woman, hubby killed in road mishap on way to hospital

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a pregnant woman and her husband were killed in a road mishap while travelling to a nearby hospital on a bike in Turekela area of Bolangir district in Odisha today.

The deceased have been identified as Lalita Majhi (21) and her husband Ashok Majhi (26) of Gaindimaal under Turekela block, sources said.

The incident took place when the Lalita and Ashok were on their way to a primary health centre at Lathore for health check-up of the expectant mother.

Lalita and Ashok fell down and were crushed to death under the wheels of a Raipur-bound truck (CG-04-JC-6085) when it hit their bike from the rear, sources said.

The truck driver managed to flee the spot soon after the mishap, locals said.

On being informed, Turekela police reached the spot and launched a probe after sending the bodies for postmortem.
