Odisha priest arrested for raping four-year-old girl

Commissionerate Police today arrested a priest on charges of raping a minor girl at a village under Sadar Police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The accused identified as Ratikant Dash alias Kalia was arrested from Bhingarpur area here, police sources said.

According to reports, the four-year-old victim had gone to a temple last evening. The accused, who is the priest of that temple, allegedly raped her as there was no one around.

The kid somehow managed to escape from her tormentor’s clutches and rushed towards her house. No sooner she narrated her ordeal to her parents, the minor fainted.

The girl was first rushed to Maidharpada Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) as her condition deteriorated.

The mother of the victim filed an FIR with the Cuttack Sadar police station following which the cops launched a manhunt to nab the accused who was on the run.
