Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested the Principal of a physiotherapy college located in Bhubaneswar for allegedly defrauding a medical aspirant of Rs 10 lakh. Following the arrest, the accused, identified as Prem Ranjan Ojha, Principal of Hi Tech College of Physiotherapy was forwarded to the court.
Based on a written complaint filed by one Prajna Prakash Das, a case was registered at Khandagiri police station under Sections of 419/420 of IPC and investigation was launched. Prajna Prakash deposited Rs 10 lakhs in 2017 to the account of Prem Ranjan who promised the complainant a MBBS seat at Hi Tech Medical College, Rourkela.
Prem Ranjan assured the complainant for three consecutive years of providing a MBBS seat. But, he failed to keep his promise and did not return the amount taken.
A police official said investigation shows more medical aspirants have been cheated by the accused. Further investigation into the case is on.
