Odisha private bus owners’ association calls for indefinite stir from October 10

Bhubaneswar: All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association decided to go on an indefinite strike across the State from October 10, in its General Body meeting held in Bhubaneswar today.

According to the association sources, the strike has been called opposing the LAccMI scheme of the Odisha Government, which is to be launched in Malkangiri on October 2 and a 24-hour cease-wheel (Chaka-Bandh) agitation will also be carried out in undivided Koraput district on the same day.

Accordingly, private buses will not run from Koraput, Malkangiri, Jeypore, and Nabarangpur districts to outside places and vice versa.

Notably, the association had a meeting with the State government earlier in the day. The strike will be carried out, in case the demands of the outfit are not met.

In a letter to general secretary of the association, Transport Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the State Transport Authority (STA)-ODISHA in Cuttack wrote, “As discussed in the meeting on 10.08.2023, it has been decided that all RTOS will hold meetings with the concerned Bus Associations in their jurisdiction and in case of clash of timings of buses of private operators with LAccMI Bus, STA resolutions regarding grant of permit will be followed.”
