Odisha professor lands in trouble for leaking results on social media

Utkal University, the premier varsity of Odisha, off late has remained in news for a variety of wrong reasons-this time for alleged posting of marks secured by students before publication of results on social media by an Assistant Professor.

The varsity authorities have issued a show cause to the concerned teacher to explain within seven days.

Chairman, P G Council of Utkal University has served a show cause notice to Dr. Maheswar Satpathy, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology to explain within seven days why disciplinary action will not be taken against him.

“Please refer to your letter and social media posting cited above. You sat on hunger strike by writing a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, without informing the authorities, you broke your hunger strike. You have disclosed marks of your students in social media before the declaration of results by the authorities. You have criticized many people including the authorities of Utkal University in the social media. You are required to explain within seven days why disciplinary action will not be taken against you,” reads the letter written to Dr. Satpathy by the Chairman, PG Council.

However, Dr. Satpathy has denied the allegations made against him.

“Whatever accusations that have been brought against me are invalid, nullified and void. They are not true, not authentic. You can verify my social media ID i.e. Facebook. You can verify it for yourself how true these accusations are,” said Dr. Satpathy speaking to reporters.
