Odisha: Prohibitory orders under Sec 144 to remain in force during Nagarjuna Besha

Puri: The Puri district administration today declared prohibitory orders under Section 144 will be imposed in Puri town during the Nagarjuna Besha of the deities of Shree Jagannath Temple tomorrow.

Puri SP K. Vishal Singh said the prohibitory orders will be in force from Marichikota Chhak and around Shree Jagannath temple to Dolamandap Sahi from 2 AM tomorrow in view of the Nagarjuna Besha.

To ensure safety and security, a total of 25 platoons of police force will be deployed in the Puri town. Two Additional SPs, seven DSPs, 75 Officers and 250 Home Guards will be deployed, added the Puri SP.

Devotees will not be allowed to pay obeisance to the deities during the Nagarjuna Besha, the SP informed.

“Giving top most priority to health of all citizens and preventing overcrowding in compliance to Covid-19 precautions,” he added.
