Bhubaneswar: The state government is all set to open Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath temple at Odisha’s Puri town for inventory of its valuables during the upcoming Rath Jatra.
The inventory of the ornaments and valuables of the temple treasury will be carried out under the supervision of a 12-member committee headed by former Supreme Court Judge Justice Arijit Pasayat.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently announced that the temple treasury would be opened for inventory purposes very soon.
A meeting for the opening and inventory of Jagannath temple Ratna Bhandar is scheduled to be held at Puri on July 5.
The inventory of the ornaments of Ratna Bhandar is set to be done in between July 8 and 27.
The previous BJD government in Odisha had constituted the 12-member committee headed by Justice Pasayat for monitoring the process of inventory of valuables stored at Ratna Bhandar.
Other members of the committee included Dr. Ramakanta Panda (vice-chairman), Dr. Bidhubhushan Samal (former CMD of Allahabad Bank), AK Sabat (Chartered Accountant), a representative of Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb, a representative of Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Durga Prasad Dasmohapatra (servitor), Madhav Chandra Mohapatra (servitor), Jagannath Kar (servitor), Ganesh Mekap (servitor), Puri Collector and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator.
