Odisha: Rail line washed away in floods restored

Bhubaneswar:  The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has completed the restoration works of the Nuapada-Gunpur rail line, which was severely damaged by Cyclone Titli and subsequent floods.

The repair works of the rail line, which connects Paralakhemundi and Nuapada stations, completed today, ECoR said in a statement.

The train services on Nuapada-Gunpur line will be resumed from tomorrow. Puri-Gunpur and Visakhapatnam-Gunpur passenger trains will run as per the schedule, it added.

Besides, the Rourkela-Gunpur Rajyarani Express will run regularly on the route as per the schedule from October 28.

Earlier in the day, first an empty engine and then another train was run over the repaired line on trial basis, an ECoR spokesperson said.

As the rail line was damaged, people of Paralakhemundi were taking the road to reach major stations like Palasa.
