Odisha: Rain to dampen festive spirit during Ratha Jatra in Puri!

Bhubaneswar: Rain is likely to play spoilsport during Ratha Jatra this year in Pilgrim Town with the regional MeT department forecasting heavy downpours in north and coastal Odisha starting July 13.

The nine-day annual festival of Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings will begin on July 14.

As per the weathermen, a low pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on July 13 and become more active subsequently. Under its impact, heavy to very heavy rains will lash several parts of north and coastal Odisha like Puri, Khurdha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sundergarh.

The cyclonic circulation over Arunachal Pradesh and its neighbouring areas has become less marked, the Met department added.
