Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today recommended a proposal for inclusion of ‘Kui’ language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
At least 7 lakh people of Kondh tribe in Odisha will be benefitted by the inclusion of Kui language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, said Chief Secretary PK Jena.
Besides, it will help preserve, promote and propagate Kui language and culture in the state. Activities such as publication, creation of contents and recognition will also get momentum, added the Chief Secretary.
“The move will create an ecosystem to facilitate research and studies on Kui language,” Jena said.
The Odisha Cabinet had earlier recommended a proposal for inclusion of ‘Saora’ language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
