Odisha relaxes norms for these shops during lockdown

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today decided to allow road side dhabas, vehicle repair shops, spare part shops which are located alongside the National and State highways to open to ensure unhindered movement of goods transport vehicles during the nationwide lockdown.

In a letter, Principal Secretary of Water Resources department who is also member of the State Level Monitoring Unit on Goods and Services, directed Collectors and SPs to ensure smooth Inter/Intra State movement of goods by allowing the dhabas, vehicle repair shops, spare part shops to open at the rate of 1 every 20 km or as deemed fit by the District Administration, while taking care that it is located away from the towns and cities.

Collectors will decide and grant permission through the civil supply officers and regional transport officers in this regard, the letter mentioned.

It further said highway patrol will ensure that there is no congregation at any particular dhabas. Also, except goods carriers, none other persons must be allowed.

“No goods vehicle, carrying essential, non-essential or empty shall be stopped by police or any other authority. No passes are required for any goods vehicle across Odisha including Bhubaneswar & Cuttack,” the letter read.
