Bhubaneswar: With detection of 7,426 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, Odisha’s COVID-19 tally today further surged to 12,25,268, including 74,512 active cases.
For the first time after months, the state today registered single-day COVID deaths in double digits as 10 infectees succumbed to the virus.
As per the Health and Family Welfare Department, four COVID infected persons each from Khordha and Sundargarh districts and one each from Angul and Kandhamal districts died while undergoing treatment.
Of the total fresh cases detected from all 30 districts, 4,306 are quarantine cases and remaining 3,120 are local contacts. The fresh infectees include 867 in 0-18 years age group.
Khordha district registered highest 1,959 fresh infections, followed by Sundargarh (778) and Cuttack (548).
As total 65, 250 samples were tested in the state yesterday, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) for the day stood at 11.3%.
