Odisha reports 2589 more COVID-19 cases; local contacts-1015

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha’s COVID-19 tally further mounted to 67,122 after 2589 fresh positive cases were detected in the state in the last  24 hours, informed the Government.

This is the second single-day highest positive cases reported in the state. Highest 2924 cases were reported on August 16.

Of the total fresh cases, 1574 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres while remaining 1015 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The fresh cases have been reported from 29 districts with Khordha registering highest 466 cases followed by Ganjam (242) and Cuttack (222).

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 21,383. However, 45,314 patients have recovered in the state so far.

It is pertinent to mention here that total 53,015 number of samples were tested in the state in the last 24 hours. So far 10,62,469 tests have been conducted in the state.
