Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered its sixth death due to COVID-19 while 74 more persons tested positive for the virus yesterday taking the tally to 1052, official sources said today.

The deceased has been identified as a 70-year-old man of Khordha district. He had history of comorbidity  of hypertension and was admitted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar yesterday with respiratory distress. The septuagenarian breathed his last while undergoing treatment on the very day, official sources said.

Out of the 74 new cases, 72 were detected from quarantine centres while two are local cases, sources added.

The state government informed about the details of fresh 74 in a series of tweets.

With this, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Odisha rose to 739 while 307 patients have recovered so far.
