Odisha reports highest single-day spike of 577 COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 11K

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID-19 tally crossed 11,000 mark with 577 new positive cases, highest single-day spike so far, were reported in the last 24 hours. The state’s tally stood at 11,201.

Of the total fresh cases, 416 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres while 161 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said Health and Family Welfare department.

The cases have been reported from 22 districts:  Angul (7), Balasore (30), Bhadrak (2),  Boudh(5), Cuttack (14), Dhenkanal (4),  Gajapati (17), Ganjam (260), Jagatsinghpur ( 7), Jajpur (9),  Jharsuguda(1), Kandhamal (1), Kendrapada (3), Keonjhar (48), Khordha (56), Koraput (6), Malkangiri (1), Mayurbhanj (14), Nayagarh (1), Puri (5),  Sambalpur (3) and Sundargarh (83),

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 4128. While 7006 patients have recovered in the state so far, 48 succumbed to the virus.

In the last 24 hours, 6289 COVID-19 samples were tested. So far 3,14, 987 tests have been conducted in the state.
