Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested a Revenue Inspector (RI) on charges of receiving bribe at the office in Khordha district.
Bisweswar Ray Behera, the RI posted at Siko under Begunia Tahasil, was apprehended today while demanding/accepting bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from a complainant.
According to reports, the tainted revenue official had demanded Rs 20,000 bribe from a person. He allegedly threatened the complainant to take action against him for felling a tree in a government land.
The victim reported the matter to the Vigilance. Following the complaint, a Vigilance team nabbed the RI while accepting Rs 20,000 from the complainant.
The bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized, the Vigilance informed.
A case has been registered U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the RI for probe, which is in progress.
Following the arrest, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at two locations of Behera to probe into disproportionate assets angle.
