Odisha revises allowances, honorarium of elected Panchayati Raj representatives

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today increased the daily allowances, sitting fee and honorarium of elected representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions with retrospective effect from April 1, 2020.

Ward member at Gram Panchayat will get daily allowance of Rs 40 and sitting fee of Rs 200 whereas Naib Sarpanch will get daily allowance of Rs 40, sitting fee Rs 200 and honorarium at Rs 940. Sarpanch will receive daily allowance at Rs 40, sitting fee at Rs 200 and honorarium at Rs 2350.

Panchayat Samiti member will get daily allowance of Rs 40, sitting fee Rs 200 and Honorarium at Rs 2350. Vice Chairperson of the Panchayat Samiti will get daily allowance at Rs 40, sitting fee at Rs 200 and Honorarium at Rs 2350 while Chairperson will receive daily allowance of Rs 40, sitting fee at Rs 200 and Honorarium at Rs 3530.

As per the decision, Zilla Parishad Member will get daily allowance of Rs 80, sitting fee at Rs 220 and Honorarium at Rs 3530. While Vice President of Zilla Parishad will receive daily allowance at Rs 80, sitting fee at Rs 220 and Honorarium at Rs 7040, President will get daily allowance at Rs 80, sitting fee at Rs 220 and Honorarium at Rs 9380.

The Odisha Panchayat Samiti T.A. Rules, 1975 regulates the payment of allowance to the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Members of the Samiti. Similarly Rule-11 of Odisha Gram Panchayat Rules, 2014 prescribes the rate at which Sarapanch, Naib Sarapanch and Ward Member shall get daily allowance and sitting fees. The Section-10 of Odisha Zilla Parishad Act,1991 prescribes the honorarium for President / Vice president.
