Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday launched the Mukhyamantri Siksha Puraskar Yojana, under which prizes worth Rs 100 crore will be given to students, teachers, alumni, school committee members and sarpanches, every year.

Patnaik made an announcement in this regard at the concluding ceremony of Children's Day at the Unit-IX Government High School here.

The prizes will be given for excellence and contribution in the field of education.

Around 50,000 students and 1,500 teachers, alumni, sarpanches and school committee members will be awarded every year under the scheme, the CM said.

Patnaik also launched digital locker app for the Council of Higher Secondary Education and the Board of Secondary Education for safe keeping of certificates, mark sheets and other documents.
