Odisha BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy arrested by CBI, suspended from party

Former Odisha government chief whip and the BJD MLA from Banki Pravat Tripathy was today arrested by the CBI in connection with the financial fraud by chit fund firm Artha Tatwa Group.

The ruling BJD lost no time in disowning Tripathy by suspending Tripathy from the party within minutes of his arrest.

Tripathy’s arrest was confirmed by the chief information officer of the CBI Kanchan Prasad.

” Mr Pravat Tripathy, BJD MLA from Banki in Odisha has been arrested by the CBI in Odisha in the Artha Tatwa case in the ongoing chit fund scam on charges of criminal conspiracy and the allegation that he had received huge sum from the Artha Tatwa Group”, a senior CBI official said.

Tripathy was summoned today for the fourth time today by the CBI team probing the mega chit fund scam in Odisha.

This was the second time after his anticipatory bail was rejected by the High Court that he had been called for interrogation.
