Odisha Rural Development department to come under ‘Mo Sarkar’ from Feb 1

Bhubaneswar: The State government has decided to bring the Rural Development department under the purview of ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative from February 1. This was announced by Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena today.

Talking to media persons Jena said roads will be constructed to the villages that lack connectivity. This apart, plans of some roads will be modified. The State government will amend the district connectivity plan envisaged in 2003 and construct roads to villages with more than 100 residents.

As per the data presented in the State Assembly, more than 4,300 villages in the State lack all-weather roads.

The Rural Development department will work in coordination with Panchayati Raj, Forest, Works, Tribal Development and Water Resources departments to identify villages that do not have road connectivity, the official added.

The Chief Minister, the Rural Development Minister and officials would seek feedbacks from beneficiaries of different schemes once the concerned department comes under ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme.
