Internationally renowned sand artist Manas Sahu has created a 20 feet long sand sculpture on the shore of Puri beach in Odisha to commemorate World Tourism Day today.

Manas has created the 20 feet long sculpture in beach near Lighthouse in Puri based on the theme-- “One Billion Tourists One Billion Opportunities”-- in order to create awareness about how to make tourists feel welcome and encourage tourism.

“On occasion of World Tourism Day we have made a sculpture where we have shown one billion tourist one billion opportunities. Since Puri is a tourist place, many tourists come therefore this is an inspiration for people how to behave with tourists and how to get more tourists here,” said Manas Sahu, sand artist.

The artist has created the Egyptian Pyramid, Paris Eiffel tower, Jesus Christ among other global tourist venues very finely with sand in the beach.

Internationally acclaimed artist Sudarsan Pattnaik also created sand sculptures on the beach of the pilgrim town to mark the World Tourism Day. Pattnaik carved the sand art of famous Konark Sun Temple.

Notably, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27 since 1980.
