Odisha: Schedule for Lord Lingaraj’s Rukuna Rath Yatra finalised

Bhubaneswar: The trust board of Lingaraj temple here today finalised the schedule for annual Rukuna Rath Yatra, scheduled to be held on the occasion of Ashokastami on March 29.

The schedule for annual Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj was finalised at a meeting of the temple trust board and servitors of the 11th century shrine today, said an official.

As per the schedule, Mangala Alati ritual of Lord Lingaraj would be performed between 5 am and 5.30 am in the morning and Bhoga Lagi ritual will be held at the noon. Pulling of the chariot will begin between 3 pm and 3.30 pm, said Lingaraj temple supervisor Raj Kishore Mohapatra today.

In a related development, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central Division, Suresh Chandra Dalai today announced Ashokastami as a local holiday for Khurda district.

As per a notification issued by the RDC, all government offices in Khurda district will remain closed on the occasion of Ashokastami on March 29.
