Odisha school students selected for NASA event

Bhubaneswar: A team of 10 school students from Odisha created by Navonmesh Prasar Student Astronomy Team (NaPSAT) is all set to bring laurels to the state as they have been selected to participate in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge scheduled to be held in April, 2021.

NaPSAT is an initiative of Bhubaneswar-based Navonmesh Prasar Foundation. The team comprising space enthusiasts are engaged in projects like design of space systems, rovers, rockets, and satellites for the event.

“For the very first time, a school team from India will participate in the event. We identified 10 school students from Odisha and formed the team during the COVID time. Training was provided to the students and later they applied for NASA Rover Challenge,” said Anil Pradhan, founder of Navonmesh Prasar Foundation.

The team is creating a rover which can move on the surface of Mars, he added.
