Odisha school teacher detained for alleged misbehaviour with girl student

Kendrapara: A school teacher of a local school has been detained by the police for alleged misbehaviour with a girl student in Bandhapada gram panchayat high school of Rajanagar block in Kendrapara district.

According to reports, one Ananta Charan Patra of Gobindapur village would call a girl student of Class VIII into an empty classroom and make obscene gestures towards her and misbehaved with her. This had happened a multiple times before, but the frightened girl did not report the matter to anyone.

However, she could not tolerate this harassment and brought the matter to the notice of her family on July 11, who further informed the headmaster and school management committee.

Furthermore, a meeting was conducted by the school authorities and this act of the teacher was condemned and he was held guilty. However, Ananta denied all allegations against himself.

Thereafter the student’s aunt lodged a written complaint in Rajanagar police station to take action against the said teacher, upon which he was detained by the cops.

“The girl’s family has registered a complaint. This is a serious matter. We are interrogating the teacher in the police station,” said SI Bibhuti Rout.

Worth mentioning, this same school teacher was punished for misbehaving with another girl student last year.
