Odisha school timings changed in wake of heat wave alert

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of heat wave conditions in Odisha, the State Government today rescheduled the school timings for students of classes 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Timings for students of classes 9 and 11 have been rescheduled to 7.00 AM to 9.00 AM. Similarly, timings for students of classes 10 and 12 have been rescheduled to 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM. The rescheduling of classes will be given effect from 01.03.2021.

District Education Officers (DEOs) have been advised to ensure availability of pure drinking water in all schools including repair of tube wells, if any in consultation with officials of PR & DW Dept/Urban Local Bodies.

They have been advised to store sufficient ORS in schools which can be provided to students and staff in case of need and the same can be procured from the Local Health Centre.

School transport facilities, where available, have been allowed to operate for students and staff to avoid exposure to heat.
