Odisha scribes protest attack on Naxatra crew; to meet DGP soon

Condemning the ‘murderous assault’ on the reporter and camera crew of Naxatra News inside the KISS campus here on Sunday last, journalists in the Odisha capital today demanded action against KIIT and KISS authorities.

mufp protestProtesting against the attack, journalists of the city, under the banner of Media Unity of Freedom of Press (MUFP), assembled under the ‘Freedom Tree’ in front of Jayadev Bhavan here today and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

“Why are the police not acting against the culprits even five days after the incident?” the journalists asked. Expressing dissatisfaction over the inaction by the Commissionerate police, they alleged the police as a whole have been mute spectators to the spate of attacks on media persons in the state.

A decision was taken at the meeting to meet the DGP in this regard soon.

Among those present at the protest demonstration were senior journalists Prasanta Patnaik, Rabi Das, Ramesh Mohanty, Prasanna Mohanty, Pratap Mohanty, Prafulla Das, Kedar Mishra, Ashok Das, Satya Prakash Nayak, Pradeep Pandey, Satyajit Mishra, Durga Madhab Mishra, Arindam Das and Subhrashu Shekhar Padhi.
