Patnagarh: Former Patnagarh MLA Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo today challenged the sitting BJD MLA Saroj Kumar Meher from the Assembly constituency saying that the senior BJP leader is ready to shave half of his moustache if Meher would come to an open stage for a debate on the pseudo ‘development’ that the latter has done over nearly four and a half years for people who elected him.

Singh Deo said this in an induction programme organised at Budhibahal village under Khaprakhol block of the constituency in Bolangir district. In case, the sitting MLA does not come for an open debate then the people’s representative ought to tonsure his head before the public, Singh Deo expressed.

“The sitting MLA was rather moving from village to village in the Assembly constituency segment for the last two days and trying to stop this induction programme. He asked many people not to come to the programme and even offered Bhoji (a feast) to the locals to appease them,” Singh Deo said.

“I invite the sitting MLA to submit a report card on his ‘performances’ and BJP is willing to furnish its report of what the party has done during these years. He is the one, who claims the works done by others to be of his own and takes the credit,” the BJP leader asserted.

Despite attempts, reactions of the Patnagarh BJD MLA over this could not be obtained.

It is pertinent to mention, Singh Deo has won from Patnagarh Assembly constituency on a BJP party ticket consecutively five times in 1995, 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2014. However, the senior BJP leader lost the seat to present BJD MLA Saroj Meher in the 2019 General Elections.
