Odisha: Senior leader Ashok Panigrahi resigns from BJP

The party was having a use-and-throw attitude towards me, says Panigrahi ruefully

Bhubaneswar: Ending all speculations, senior BJP leader Ashok Panigrahi has resigned from the party’s primary membership. Panigrahi, who had joined the saffron party after quitting BJD in 2018, today sent his resignation letter to the party’s State president Basant Panda.

In his reaction, Panigrahi said, “The party was having a use-and-throw attitude towards me and ignored me on several occasions. The party leadership neither took me into confidence while taking decisions nor gave any responsibility during polls or bypoll. Therefore, I took this decision.”

On his future course of action and possibility of joining back BJD, the senior leader said he would decide on his future course of action after holding talks with supporters. “Before election I won’t join anywhere. As far as any chance of rejoining BJD is concerned, there is hardly any such plan.”

Last week Panigrahi had made a statement in media that BJP was neglecting him and he would take drastic step in a day or two. Later he had made a U-turn and denied the talks of quitting the saffron party as a rumour.

Though the former MLA had quit BJD in 2018 and joined BJP, he was denied a ticket during general polls 2019.
