Odisha sets priority group to get Covid jab from April 1; check details

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today regrouped persons aged 45 years and above to receive the Covid vaccine from April 1, 2021. In a letter to District Collectors, Municipal Corporation Commissioners and Health officials, Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra directed them to vaccinate those who are at the highest risk of being potential super spreaders.

The letter stated street vendors, meat and fish sellers, auto and bus drivers, school and college teachers, salon and barber shop employees and security guards should be covered under the vaccination drive as early as possible.

The State government has targeted to vaccinate two lakh people daily. It decided to continue the vaccination programme on April 1 and 2 even though they are government holidays, the letter read.

Mohapatra also asked the district officials to take adequate steps to achieve the district-wise daily target and increase the number of COVID vaccination centres (CVCs) if need arises.
Shops violating Covid protocols will be sealed, the letter read.
