Odisha: Sex racket busted in Dhenkanal, kingpin among seven held

Bhubaneswar: The police today claimed to have busted a sex racket in Dhenkanal town of Odisha and detained seven persons, including three women, in this connection.

The sex racket was being operated from a building in Anandnagar area of Dhenkanal, sources said.

On a tip-off, Dhenkanal town police raided the building around 9 pm today and detained three women, including the kingpin, and four customers in connection with the flesh trade, sources said.

According to police, the kingpin of the sex racket, who hails from West Bengal, has been residing in a rented house at Anandnagar in Dhenkanal along with her family for the last couple of months.

“The kingpin brought a few women from her native state and engaged them in the flesh trade. We have detained seven persons, including the kingpin, for interrogation. We have also seized some objectionable items from the building,” said a police officer.

Notably, the police had busted a sex racket operating from a house near Caltex Square of Dhenkanal town on April 8.

The police had arrested the kingpin and rescued two women in this connection.
