Odisha shocker: Men thrash young woman over property dispute, video goes viral

Cuttack:  In a shocking video that has gone viral, a group of men were seen thrashing a young woman mercilessly over property dispute in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The video shows the hapless woman was running and screaming in pain and trying to escape from the clutches of the angry men. A large crowd is also seen witnessing the disturbing event but none of those witnessing came forward to help her.

The incident took place at Putolma village under Banki police station in the district this afternoon.

The 25-year-old was first rushed to Banki Sub-Divisional Hospital and later she was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. She sustained injuries in her legs, police said.

According to police, the woman was attacked after a heated argument and quarrel between two neighbours over a property dispute in the village.

The victim’s brother has lodged a complaint with Banki police seeking immediate arrest of the accused.

The accused are identified as Damodar Dehury, Ramachandra Dehury, Chakradhar Dehury and Benudhar Dehury.

“A 25-year-old lady was attacked by some men after they quarrled over some property issues. The accused and the victim are neighbours,” said Biswaranjan Sahoo, Inspector of Banki police station.

A case has been registered and investigation into the matter is underway, Sahoo said.

When asked how the video goes viral, the police officer said the victim’s brother had recorded it and later gave it to the press.

No one was arrested till filing of this report.
