Odisha shocker: Tantric rapes ‘daughter’ to liberate her from evil forces

Basta: A girl was allegedly being raped by a tantric for nearly the last four months. However, acting on an FIR lodged by the rape survivor’s father, the accused man was arrested by Jaleswar police from a place under Kamardha police limits in Balasore district, today.

The accused was identified as Ananta Pradhan, who hails from Uluda under Bhograi block.

According to a source, Ananta had previously taken the girl to his house promising that he would take care of her and get her married as well. He would keep the victim like his natural daughter as he did not have one. On the pretext of a father-daughter relationship, the accused subsequently raped her.

The girl had earlier stayed at Ananta’s house along with the accused man’s wife under one roof and respected both as her father and mother. When Ananta’s wife went to Bangalore about five months ago, taking advantage of the situation, the man outraged the modesty of the victim girl.

Ananta used to intimidate the victim saying that her family members would either die or face severe danger in case she did not keep a physical relationship with the accused for their wellbeing.

“In the present scenario, I seek justice and want to get him (Ananta) married,” the girl said.

“The accused used to disrobe my daughter and perform the sorcery,” the girl’s father expressed.
