Odisha siblings create giant remote in Guinness bid

Two brothers in Odisha’s Sambalpur have created a giant television remote which they claim is the largest in the world.

The remote which can be used on television sets has been created by two brothers– Suraj Meher and Rajesh Meher, residents of Sambalpur. After consultation with the officials of Guinness Book of World Record who had told them that the remote should have all the parts of a normal remote and it should be in working condition, the brothers started on their project. The brothers have worked for 68 days to create the giant remote at the cost of Rs 50,000.

The remote was inaugurated by local MLA Raseswari Panigrahi yesterday in the city. The Mehers are confident that the remote will get an entry into Guinness Book of World Record very soon.

In 2013, they had created a gigantic fan which had earned them a place in Limca Book of World Records. The brothers have been aspiring for an entry into the Guinness Book of World Record.

The remote is 4.5 meters long, 2.28 meters broad and 0.71 meters high. The remote is made out of polycarbonate and buttons are made of rubber, there are 38 buttons in the remote which is run by AAA batteries.
